Infectious disease epidemiology and transmission dynamics (how infections spread)

If you’re interested in public health then infectious disease epidemiology and transmission dynamics is something that you have to get your head around. This video is all about how communicable diseases (those caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites) spread from person to person. I also talk about the R0 (basic reproductive numbers) which can be used to calculate how many people need to be vaccinated to get to herd immunity. Public health officials use this knowledge to respond to outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics as they occur.
