Sexually transmitted diseases STD in women and men syphilis, chlamydia, gonoirrhoeae and hermes

Sexually transmitted diseases STD in women and men syphilis, chlamydia, gonoirrhoeae and hermes

This lecture explains about the different types of sexually transmitted diseases in women and in men such as siphilis, gonorrhoeae, chlamydia and AIDS. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that you can get from having sex with someone who has the infection. The causes of STDs are bacteria, parasites and viruses. There are more than 20 types of STDs, including

Chlamydia
Gonorrhea
Genital herpes
HIV/AIDS
HPV
Syphilis
Trichomoniasis
Most STDs affect both men and women, but in many cases the health problems they cause can be more severe for women. If a pregnant woman has an STD, it can cause serious health problems for the baby.

If you have an STD caused by bacteria or parasites, your health care provider can treat it with antibiotics or other medicines. If you have an STD caused by a virus, there is no cure. Sometimes medicines can keep the disease under control. Correct usage of latex condoms greatly reduces, but does not completely eliminate, the risk of catching or spreading STDs.

Infectious Diseases A-Z: Sexually transmitted infections on the rise

Prevention and testing are two ways Mayo Clinic infectious diseases specialist Dr. Pritish Tosh says could help the nation’s staggering rates of sexually transmitted infection. A recent report from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that reported cases of STIs are at an unprecedented high in the U.S .

Dr. Tosh offers a couple of theories on the rise, “One of the things that certainly has changed is some of these social media apps whereas it’s now much easier for people who wish to engage in high risk sexual activity with multiple sex partners to find other people who are interested in engaging in high risk sexual activity with multiple sex partners in real time. And so some of these apps have been thought to contribute, and some studies have shown actually to contribute, to rises in sexually transmitted infections.
